April 25 , 2008 - I made the fatal mistake a couple years ago of watching “Faces of Death.” (No pun intended.)
“Faces of death” was a series that showed actual accidental deaths caught on tape. Curiosity can make you do strange things I suppose, and no, I’m not morbid or crazy, but it’s sort of like watching a traffic collision. Literally.
After renting these delightful tapes, my stomach made it approximately three clips and I decided that curiosity, alas, does not conquer all.
However, my interest has peaked again with a new two part series on Spike TV called “1000 Ways to Die." While the idea reminds me somewhat of what drove this little lady to rent “Faces of Death,” the general graphic nature of FOD is not present. Instead of showing actual deaths, “1000 Ways to Die” is simply based on very unusual deaths that have occurred. Toxicologists, forensic scientists, and other experts will show us what exactly happens when a rattlesnake’s venom enters the human body and what nitrogen bubbles can do to the blood stream.
It’s safe enough for the whole family and interesting enough for your teenage son….and your “teenage” husband.
